We stayed another night as my brother and sister-in-law waited for test results regarding the shortness of breath. I was planning to be back at home and in the office today but these events left me even more sure about what is actually important - work be damned.
Nothing conclusive from the results but he will not be discharged from the hospital soon and therefore not going home for weeks. With the eyesight, brain and breathing problems this could be going on for months.
